Gordon is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing. His roles include lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level, managing academic conduct in the School as the Academic Conduct Officer, managing the School technicians and School labs as Infrastructure Manager, and running the School.s Microsoft Academic Alliance and VMware Academic Programmes. Additionally he is involved in presenting a range of CPD courses for external students and companies, including bespoke courses in SQL, Databases, Linux, Cisco, and Software Engineering, as well as offering consultancy in the areas of Databases, Web Technology, and Cloud Computing. His research areas include integrated learning environments, databases, network security, and cloud computing. He holds a PhD and a BSc honours degree from the University of Strathclyde. He also holds Cisco CCNA and CCNP qualification, is certified as a Cisco Instructor in both CCNA and CCNP, and holds a CCAI in both areas. He is a member of the British Computer Society, the Higher Education Academy, and the Intuition of Engineering and Technology.
My hobbies include horse riding, furniture making, carpentry, chinese cookery, and general building work.
Currently my main research area is in teaching technologies. I have published a few papers on online learning, and on plagiarism detection.
